Spiritual Parenting

spiritual parenting

How would we have felt about our lives if every night our parent(s) had said with us, 'I am an Eternal Being here to experience absolute love and to affect my environment through the giving of my powerful resources'? This site has many of these empowering statements (I've used many of them over and over to help my children go to sleep). Picture this: every night, as you tuck your child in, you whisper together, “I am an eternal being here to experience absolute love and to affect my environment through the giving of my powerful resources.” These affirmations were my nightly ritual with my children, helping them drift off to sleep feeling safe, loved, and powerful. Spiritual parenting is about seeing your child as a soul on a sacred journey, just as you are. It’s about guiding them to connect with their inner light and the magic of life, nurturing that eternal spark within them through conscious parenting practices that feel natural and joyful.

Living the Teachings, Not Just Reading Them

I have been privileged to learn from many spiritual teachers. I have dedicated myself to the practices, tools, techniques I have learned. For me, no buying the books, taking the notes, etc., and taking them home where they got dusty on the shelf. I was my own laboratory and what worked for me I then modeled, distilled, adapted and/or condensed to be used in the day-to-day interactions with my kids in my practice (yes, lots of practice!) of spiritual parenting. I’ve been blessed to study with spiritual teachers who opened my eyes to practices like meditation, energy work, and affirmations. But I didn’t just take notes—I lived these teachings, turning my home into a laboratory of love. I adapted these practices to fit the joyful chaos of parenting, creating rituals that make spiritual parenting accessible and fun. From teaching my kids to “check their vibes” during a meltdown to weaving magic into everyday moments like bath time or mealtime, I’ve distilled these tools for you to use in your own home. Imagine starting the day with a simple family gratitude circle, where everyone shares one thing that lights them up—it's a small act of conscious parenting that sets a tone of positivity and connection. And because we can’t pour from an empty cup, you’ll find inspiration here to nurture your own spiritual path, too, with gentle reminders and practices tailored for busy parents.

Why We Need to Nourish Ourselves First

To be the best moms (parents) we can be, we need to nourish ourselves and have ways to support our own spiritual paths. You'll find inspiration and encouragement here, from quick meditation tips to affirmations that recharge your soul amid the whirlwind of diapers, school runs, and bedtime stories. Spiritual parenting isn't about perfection; it's about presence, showing up as your authentic self and inviting your children to do the same. I've found that when I prioritize my own energy work—whether it's a five-minute breathing exercise or journaling my intentions—it ripples out to my kids, helping them feel more grounded and empowered. This is the heart of conscious parenting: recognizing that our children's spiritual journeys are intertwined with our own, and by healing ourselves, we create a home filled with absolute love and powerful resources.

Motherhood as Sadhana: The Sacred Everyday Practice

Clouds

One definition of Sadhana: ego-transcending spiritual practice. We are here in this physical arena to heal, to become whole, to remember Who We Are! We who made the choice to do this as mothers can contribute to the healing of this planet by embracing the sacredness of our roles as mothers and embodying the qualities of the Divine Mother in our conscious parenting spiritual practice. This does not exclude fathers, for we are also healed by the balancing of our female and male energies. It is my hope that fathers will also find much here as we all espouse and practice conscious parenting of our children. In the yogic tradition, sadhana is an ego-transcending spiritual practice—a path to remembering our divine essence. As mothers, our sadhana is the sacred act of raising our children with love, intention, and reverence. Through conscious parenting, we embody the qualities of the Divine Mother—nurturing, fierce, and unconditionally loving—contributing to the healing of our planet. Fathers are warmly welcomed here, too, as we all balance our masculine and feminine energies to raise children who radiate light.

The Real (and Hilarious) Side of Spiritual Parenting

Being a Mom and learning from teachers that have been predominately male has been irksome and humorous at times. For example, 'Oh! Mommy's doing downward dog (yoga position) - Ha! this is a fun play structure to climb on!' And trying to maintain your meditation practice while nursing your hungry baby. I used to have ongoing dialogues in my mind with male teachers, grumbling about how they had no idea...., etc.! This website is definitely from a mom's perspective! Motherhood isn’t always a serene meditation—far from it! I’ve laughed (and grumbled) trying to do yoga with a toddler climbing on me or meditating while nursing a hungry baby. My male spiritual teachers often didn’t get the realities of parenting, which is why Metaphysical Mom is proudly written from a mom’s perspective. This space celebrates the messy, magical, transformative journey of motherhood, where spiritual parenting meets the real world of spilled milk and sleepless nights.

Practical Tools for Everyday Magic

Let me share a bit more about how I've woven these elements into my life. Early on, I discovered the power of energy work in spiritual parenting—simple things like visualizing a protective light around my children before they head off to school. These aren't just abstract ideas; they're practical tools I've tested in the trenches of motherhood. Remember those empowering statements I mentioned? They're like seeds planted in fertile soil, growing into a child's unshakeable sense of self. I've seen it in my own kids: one who now confidently navigates friendships by "checking their vibes," another who turns to affirmations during tough times, affirming, "Peace, joy, love, harmony is all that is real." Conscious parenting like this fosters resilience, empathy, and a deep knowing of their divine essence.

When the Ego Flares and the Days Feel Long

But let's talk about the challenges, because spiritual parenting isn't all bliss. There are days when the ego flares up—maybe a tantrum tests your patience, or exhaustion makes meditation feel impossible. That's where sadhana comes in as a lifeline. Viewing motherhood as sadhana shifts everything: those chaotic moments become opportunities for growth, for transcending the ego and stepping into the Divine Mother's flow. I've adapted yoga poses into playtime activities, turning downward dog into a family game where everyone giggles and connects. And for the dads reading this, know that conscious parenting honors your role too—balancing those masculine and feminine energies creates harmony in the home, healing us all.

That’s the vision here—welcoming you, affirming your beautiful efforts, and walking beside you every step.
